We would very much like to take the lead in our area by offering a program that is not available at this time. In 2006 Florida House Bill 1319 was passed requiring all swim instructors teaching individuals with developmental delays to be certified in Adapted Aquatics. Due to budgetary constraints within the County we are seeking monetary donations/sponsorships to have two employees from the Palm Bay Aquatic Center certified so we can get our program up and running. Our goal is to raise $500.00 for equipment and a workshop offered through the Palm Beach Chapter of the American Red Cross that provides hands on training, giving us the best instruction possible. With this certification we will be able to advertise directly to groups seeking swim lessons for children with developmental delays. We would be more than happy to recognize any individual or business/organization that helps in making this program possible by providing a donation/sponsor list on our flyer advertisements. Our intent is for this program to become so successful that we can share our program concept to local aquatic centers. With demand, this program will surely expand to surrounding areas, meeting the needs of everyone in our communities . Please call about the Adapted Aquatics Swim Program at 952-2232 or email me at cindy.staubly@brevardparks.com. We would be happy to answer any questions you may have and hope that we are conveying our excitement in a way that will ensure your support!
